Techirghiol is one of the nationally and internationally renowned spas, due to the healing properties of Lake Techirghiol. Techirghiol Lake, the largest salt lake in Romania, with a length of 7,500 m, a maximum depth of 9 meters and a salinity of over 90 g / l is known for the qualities of saltwater (mineralized) and sapropelic mud, used to treat various diseases. The invertebrate fauna that inhabits Lake Techirghiol is dominated by the crustacean Artemia salina, which together with the crystalline alga Cladophora provides the raw material for the production of sapropelic mud with active mineral components that give it a special therapeutic value.
The saltwater of Lake Techirghiol is strongly hypertonic, with a concentration of about 80g of mineral salts per liter, because Lake Techirghiol is a former sea bay isolated from the sea by a strip of sand, which led over time to a strong concentration of seawater salts, given the arid climate of the area. Techirghiol Botanical Garden
Tourists who choose the city of Techirghiol as a holiday destination will have the opportunity to visit the only botanical garden on the Romanian coast.
